Here are just a FEW of the shots I captured at Michael & Alicia’s wedding. I don’t often photograph weddings simply because I don’t promote weddings. Every now and then I am asked from a friend or family member if I could take “a few” shots and capture the day for them, or I get calls to shoot 2nd marriages etc… The conversation goes like this…. we just want a few good shots… A FEW good shots makes me laugh. Being a portrait photographer my goal is to make it difficult to choose your favorites because you love all of them!
Last week I photographed a special little girl at the beautiful Greek orthodox Church, St Nicholas in West Babylon. I have had the pleasure of working with this wonderful family a few times. First was the baby shower, then the newborn photo shoot and most recently, the Christening, which was by far the most beautiful baptism I have ever seen. Here are a few images from all 3 milestones that I wanted to share.
Ahhhh YOUNG LOVE! I met Eric Colby & Michelle Wagner at West Meadow Beach for their engagement session. Eric won a gift certificate for my services at a charity event over the summer. I had no idea what to expect since I never met him before. How lucky was I to have such an adorable couple to work with. www.traceyspero.com
Long Island family photographer, bright, bold, energetic portraits of people.
Summer is pretty much here and I have been preparing for my upcoming photo shoots. I have been scouting locations all over NYC and Long Island. I have so many different locations that I am excited to share with all my clients. This was the first time that I scheduled a photo shoot in Cold Spring Harbor. This town has a little bit of everything and for this session we stayed right by the water.
Matthew’s Bar Mitzvah was at the Harbor Club at Prime, in Huntington and it was a blast! I spent some time with Matthew before the party started grabbing some pics of him in the beautifully decorated room. White couches, sports themed decor and a orange and navy blue color scheme created a stunning look for the room. The Showplace, located in New York, Nassau and the Hampton’s, produced the idea and made the room come to life. In addition to the perfect setting was the entertainment. The dancers from Ej the Dj were so friendly and kept the party at such a high energy level the guests had no choice but to get up and dance.
OK! So 2 pre-mitzvah shoots in 1 week. Both happened to be sports themed and boys. If you have worked with me before, you know that I am not about cookie cutter and what inspires me is to always keep the quality and style of my photography recognizable yet my subject matter and locations different. This photo shoot took place on a windy, cold day. Aaron was such a good sport! PUN INTENDED! He never complained about being cold and was a pleasure to work with.
As usual, after I have an initial conversation with the mitzvah Mom, I put together a mood board to inspire everyone involved. It’s important that stylists, make-up artists and the photographer are all on the same page and most importantly the communication between me and the mitzvah Mom have clear expectations. Aaron’s Mom brought all the right accessories which is what helped make this photo shoot such a success.
I am going to call this photo shoot theme “Born to Score”!
Now Booking Holiday Sessions 2015
Sunday October 18th and Sunday October 25th I will be spending both days “In the Woods’
What an incredible location for family portrait photography! I have been obsessed with this specific location recently, shooting a lot of my personal work in this environment. Traditional family portraits have always made me cringe a little bit – so I decided that this year I would pick a location that I know I can create portraits that you will love. Portraits of your family that have a fashiony flair and create an experience for you and your family to remember, a day in the woods. Don’t consider it a traditional portrait session. After reserving your time slot, we will have a styling conversation. I will ask you a few questions about colors and style preference. I will then email you a personalized inspiration board with a theme for your family. This will help you choose the right clothes and props to make your portraits & holiday card “magazine worthy”!
I encourage Moms to get creative and pick clothing that their kids would not necessarily wear on a daily basis but could make for a really interesting photo. The more stuff you bring, the more I have to work with. Almost like dress up for an hour. Girls love this and boys will say they hate it but then can’t wait to see themselves in the photos.
Here is a link to view a board I put together that you could use to inspire your photo shoot.
